SimplySoles Says…

...What is it about the Color Red?
June 23, 2005

Why is it that the color red has become associated with a great sale? Wouldn't green (the color of money) or gold (money itself) be more appropriate?

I imagine retailers of the past decided that like a stop sign or a bullfighter's flag, red banners and labels would make customers take notice and hopefully stop to browse their merchandise. Despite having run an occasional stop sign ("accidentally" of course) , the color red does generally make me pause. It is the color of love (for which I've been admittedly cautious) and it's also the color of debt (my very reason for purchasing a red wallet…it's a subtle reminder that my husband sees the credit card bills too) .

Although SimplySoles does not necessarily embrace the notion of red dot sales, we do embrace the fact that Independence Day (a red, white and blue holiday) is upon us. And so in honor of the upcoming holiday and the color red (Kassie, the owner, is a red-head after all) , we are offering our customers great reductions on nearly every shoe and accessory in stock.

And speaking of shoes, the subject of red shoes needs to be addressed. Many of us have been brainwashed into thinking that red shoes are only for children, prostitutes, and Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz. Do not be fooled. Red shoes are not only readily available, they are fashionably red-hot. So you may want to take a second look at the Marc Jacobs Wicked Red Wedge, the Terre Peck Prometeo in Claret and the Martinez Valero Alix. Our Summer Sale starts today and stock is limited, so we advise you to visit SimplySolesOnSale before your favorites are spoken for.

We hope each of you has a wonderful Independence Day holiday (we'll be at the beach too) , and don't forget your suntan lotion (while we're big on red right now, we're not big on being red).

Red Hot Regards,

Rebeccah
