Wish You Were Here

We live and work in DC, and sometimes it’s easy to forget the beauty and wonder of our surroundings.  Case in point, I drive past the White House on the way into the office.  It’s shamefully easy to take it for granted.  Today though – we stopped to smell the roses, or see the cherry trees in this case.  We closed the office and took a stroll down Independence.  The weather was picture book.  The setting was story book. We enjoyed the break and the ice cream that followed. If you ever wonder when is  a good time to visit the Nation’s Capital (and us), during the week of the Cherry Blossom festival is probably prime time.

Today was lovely.  We wish you were here.

Footwear Trends for Spring 2010

Spring is here, finally.  With the warmer weather and packing of snow shovels comes a new collection of colorful and textural trends in footwear. Check out how you can take your wardrobe from chilly to breezy with these exciting new looks that are feminine, flirty, and fashionable:

1.  Florals: there’s nothing groundbreaking about florals for spring, but
this season’s trend of flowers (not just patterns but three-dimension replications) are new and refreshing. Paired with skirts (remember those?), shoes
that feature floral embellishments can add a fun pop of color. When worn with jeans, shoes like Ramon Tenza’s “Gazebo” can instantly indicate spring has arrived, even when if it’s still a little cool.

2.  Ruffles: forget Elizabethan-era stuffiness, ruffled shoes are every… More

Put a Spring in your Step on Chilly Days in Spring

It’s suddenly cold again in DC after a week of balmy, 90-degree weather.  There’s nothing like 45 degree mornings to ruin dreams of sandals and sundresses.  I’m annoyed.  But I’m not destroyed.  Even in this finicky period of moody April showers and fluctuating temperatures, there’s still plenty of great ways to put a Spring in your step.

On cooler days that seem to chase away your hopes of skirts and dresses, try instead for a fuller-coverage heel. If need be, it can be worn with neutral textured tights to keep you warm enough to stave off the temptation to… More

Celebrating the Big Momma - Mother Earth

Earth Day is upon us. Today we celebrate and remember that, like our own mothers, Mother Earth should be treated with love and respect.

What are we doing? Well, in addition to being avid recyclers (my staff would suggest that I'm nearly as obsessed with recycling as I am with shoes), we try our best to tread consciously and lightly on Mother Earth by reducing our consumption and carbon footprint (one small example is that for our retail bags we use reusable totes instead… More
